Helping an activist get through a difficult period and learn a new profession

  • Story

Hello!

My name is Olga [name has been changed for security reasons, BYSOL Foundation has all supporting documents]. I am a mom of two minor children.

I have been actively involved in protests and activism in 2020. I created and am still the administrator of one of the courtyard chat rooms in Minsk.

When the activists of our courtyard community started to be detained in June 2021, I left the country. However, being in exile, I continued to provide as much help as I could to those who remained in Belarus.

After the war started, I was a volunteer and helped Ukrainian refugees. I also took part in militarized training in Poland (hoops).
And in February 2023 I quit my job, left my children with my husband, and went to fight the occupants in Ukraine. There I underwent combat training and completed several courses in tactical medicine. However, in June I had to leave because my husband was unemployed.

Now we are in a difficult financial situation. We don't have a job and soon we won't be able to pay our rent. We are doing everything we can to get out of this hole. Now we need funds to get us through a difficult period so that I can take courses in a new specialty in IT and find a new job.

Any help would be appreciated.
