Artur served six years behind bars and left for Poland to avoid receiving another prison sentence. While waiting for his documents, he seriously injured his hand at a temporary job. He now needs help with housing and food while he recovers and waits for a work permit.
My name is Artur Khalimonchyk. I am a former political prisoner from Pinsk. I am now in Poland, recovering from a hand injury and unable to work properly. My finger was almost severed at a construction site where I went to try to earn at least some money while waiting for my legal status to be regularised. It was stitched up at the nearest hospital, but I still do not know whether my insurance will cover the treatment costs.
In February 2026, I was released after serving a six-year sentence. The Pinsk police were not happy about it. I was placed under preventive supervision for two years, and from the very first days they began to “look after” me so closely that I realised this could end with another prison sentence. At the end of March, I left for Poland.
I am now waiting for international protection, and for the time being I only have temporary documents. I cannot get an official job, and after the injury I also need time to recover. I really want to start earning money as soon as possible and am ready to consider any options.
To be honest, the stress and uncertainty of not being able to plan anything are still taking a heavy toll on me. And now I have this injury on top of everything else.
Please help me pay for housing and food while I recover and wait for permission to work.
