My name is Svetlana Kurs, I am 53 years old. I am a writer.
I was recently diagnosed with a serious condition: ovarian cancer with metastases to the peritoneum and lymph nodes. This is the same “silent killer” that hides for a long time and manifests itself only at a late stage.
For several weeks I have felt that something is wrong with my body: heaviness in the stomach, pressure on the bladder, fatigue. I was treated for inflammation — but it was oncological ascites. All my other organs are healthy — kidneys, liver, heart, lungs — and that is why the doctors have hope: a chance for treatment, for the continuation of life.
And I do not want to let it go…
Right now I really need your support. In my situation, I am not ashamed to ask, because I cannot cope alone. Ahead is a difficult path of treatment, tests, procedures. This requires funds that I do not have.

The main treatment is free.
Thanks to the Polish medical system, I am undergoing chemotherapy, preparation for surgery, the surgery itself and subsequent treatment free of charge, at the National Oncology Center. But around this is life, in which you also need to survive. Therefore, I am asking for help in raising funds for:
€4200 – living expenses (living during treatment) for 6 months (€700 per month);
€3000 – infrastructure around treatment:
— payment for travel to medical centers (including to other cities),
— rental of transport or taxi if it is physically difficult to travel by public transport,
— waiting and overnight stays after procedures (if you need to be close to the clinic),
— purchase of basic medical supplies that are not provided by insurance (injections, treatments, devices to support the body);
€600 – medication support and special nutrition;
€2200 – unforeseen expenses:
— additional tests that are not covered,
— changes in treatment plans or body reactions,
— possibility of paying for temporary assistance (social worker, temporary nurse, etc.)
