Helping a former political prisoner start his own business in Belarus

  • Story

Hi!

I am a former political prisoner.

I recently got out of the colony, where I served almost two years under Article 342 (Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus — organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them — BYSOL note) for participation in protests in 2020 and for photos in Instagram. Unfortunately, I can't tell you more about my case and I can't even give my name, because I want to stay and live in Belarus. This is where my home is.

I have a wife — she too is sentenced to “home chemistry” (a type of punishment when a convicted person remains at liberty, but with restrictions — BYSOL note). There are also two children. I was fired from my job and they refuse to take me back because they are afraid to get involved with “political” people.

So I thought I could try my hand at agribusiness. I have an understanding of what and how to do. I also have hands. But to start, you also need money. I have some of my own money, and the other part I want to ask you for.

If everything works out, I will have a business that I can feed my family with.
