Helping a political prisoner pay her fine and attorney's fees

  • Story

My name is Yana and I am 26 years old. I am an ordinary girl who worked as a cashier in a store. Since August 2020, I have been actively expressing my civic position. I was detained for participation in peaceful actions, more specifically for 09.08.2020 and 06.09.2020. At first I was detained on 09.08.2020 and during the investigation they added another date. They found me from a photo.

Right away I was detained for 10 days in the TDF. I slept there for 10 days without mattresses or blankets. No parcels were allowed either. I was released from the TDF on my own recognizance pending the trial.

A year later the officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Organised Crime burst into my house and detained me again for 10 days, after which they sentenced me under Article 342 part 1 to three years in “chemistry” and sent me to the temporary detention isolation ward.
They sent me to a place that was as far away from home as possible. Most likely they did it on purpose.

At the penitentiary institution they arranged for me to work as a nurse at the hospital. We work almost without weekends and the wages are minimal. Now I need help to pay the fine to “Minsktrans”, which the court ruled for me for standing on the road in the picture they found. Also, I need to pay out the debts I took to pay the lawyer. There is no way to do this on my own paycheck as a nurse. Many thanks to anyone who will help me in this position.

How much is needed?

1500 € — payment of the fine to “Minsktrans”; reimbursement of debts taken to pay the lawyer.
