Helping a Relocated Activist Cover Surgery Bills

  • Story

Hello!
My name is Maria, I am 20 years old and I need help.

In September I started having pains in the bottom of my abdomen. The doctors discovered I had a cyst on my left ovary and were preparing to perform surgery. However, the pain continued on the other side and the doctors couldn't figure out what was causing the discomfort. As a result, on Monday, September 25, I went to BAU (Batumi International Hospital — BYSOL note), where I was immediately sent to the operating table. It turned out that in parallel with the cyst of the left ovary, my appendix was inflamed, which also had to be removed.

For the operation I paid huge sums of 2100 GEL (€747) and 1800 GEL (€640). Unfortunately, the medical insurance for such surgeries is valid only after one year, and I have been in Georgia for 10 months.

They didn't want to discharge me until all the bills were paid [BYSOL Foundation has all the supporting medical documents]. Thank you, kind people helped. But now I have to pay back the money somehow.

I can't work from the time of my checkup until post-op recovery, and it's causing me panic and a decline in my faith in the future. If it wasn't for 2020 and my being on “per diem”, I would be at home with my mom and maybe I wouldn't be facing all these problems.

Please support!
