Assistance to an independent observer who left Belarus

  • Story

Hello!
My name is Katerina.

In 2020 I was an independent observer at the elections in my school. I went to rallies. And after Roma Bondarenko was killed, I went to a solitary action, during which I was detained and given a big fine.

Recently my old job was visited by the State Department of Bureau of Internal Affairs — they were looking for me. I didn't plan to leave Belarus, because this is my home, but somehow I got scared. I had neither a visa nor money saved up. And my passport was old. So I asked Poland for international protection.
[The BYSOL Foundation has supporting documents].

Now I am temporarily staying with friends in Krakow, in their rented apartment. I need money for the first month of renting on my own, and then I will get settled and will be able to pay for everything myself.
