Helping an Belarusian ex-fighter and his family get settled in a new country

  • Story

Hello, I am a former fighter of the Kalinowski Regiment. Served from April 2022 to September 2022, but now I am in a European country and need your help.

I am an activist and radical protester since 2016.

Was registered as an independent observer for the 2020 elections. At the end of 2021, after another search at my parents and at my last place of residence, I urgently left for Ukraine. A few days after that, a travel ban appeared in the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And even later, criminal cases were opened against me and I was put on the list of “terrorists”.

After the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, I joined the Kalinovsky Regiment. I left the Regiment in September 2022, after which I searched for and delivered humanitarian aid for the AFU and for civilians who had suffered from Russian aggression. I also still participate in Belarus-Ukraine volunteer projects.

Due to the fact that the term of my legal stay in Ukraine ended, in May 2023 I left the country and now I am in one of the European countries. My sister is also with me.
At the border we asked for refugee status. Because of this we cannot work officially and are in a difficult financial situation.

I ask for help for the time while the refugee decision is being made.
