Exhibition of Belarusian Artists in Exile – fundraising for the launch in Prague

  • Story

The project “Belarusian Artists in Exile” is a private, independent initiative to support Belarusian artists who found themselves in forced exile and to preserve their art.

Our project has already received the apostolic blessing of Pope Leo XIV, as well as the support of 11 Catholic cardinals from all over the world. Warm words of support came from the Queen of Belgium, the Queen of the Netherlands and Madame Brigitte Macron. They all saw this as an important humanitarian mission.

But, unfortunately, all this is moral and informational support only.

Finally, we have managed on our own so far. However, now we have a serious task: to hold the first exhibition of the project, which will open in September in Prague, in the House of National Minorities.

The exhibition will feature 12 Belarusian artists living in exile in four countries. We will present more than 50 original works.

But we can no longer cover all the costs ourselves; we are short about half of the required amount. In this case, we need help in developing and printing the catalog, the work of the curatorial group, logistics costs, rent and equipment for the vernissage.

Why do artists need exhibitions?

1. To be noticed
Exhibitions are the main way for artists to show their work to the public, curators, galleries and museums. Without exhibitions, their work remains invisible.
2. To develop professionally
Participation in exhibitions is part of an artistic resume. Without them, it is impossible to receive invitations to serious projects, support from foundations or continue a career in art.
3. To sell works
An exhibition gives potential collectors the opportunity to see works in person and purchase them. For artists, especially in exile, this is a vital source of income.
4. To maintain motivation and self-confidence
When an artist has an exhibition, he has an incentive to continue working. He feels that his work is needed, that he is heard. This is especially important in the conditions of exile and isolation.

By supporting our exhibition, you say “yes” to freedom, culture and dignity.
